Durango is a Colorado Summer Vacation and Winter Vacation Destination. Durango events in the summer focus around the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, whitewater rafting, an off-road jeep ride, a visit to a rodeo or one of the many other events, concerts and festivals taking place in this little cultural nook of Colorado. In the winter, Purgatory Ski Resort hosts many Durango events. There are also endless trails for cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. The Durango Silverton railroad also runs during the winter on a more limited schedule and usually host special holiday Durango events as you take your journey through the mountains for a winter wonderland expedition.
