Ride The Rockies, June 7-13, 2014, the 2014 route will be announced on Saturday, February 1st. Following this announcement, a lottery registration will begin online and remain open for three weeks. Applicants will be notified of their status in late February and all are encouraged to apply!, The Rockies is an annual bicycle tour that takes 2,000 cyclists, assisted by more than 100 volunteers, on a 6-7 day ride on paved roads through Colorado’s Rocky Mountains each June

Crested Butte Bike Week, June 25-29, 2014

Vuelta a Keystone 100k and 50k Fondo Style Cycling event, June 28, 2014, Fondo is a timed cycling event where the rider receives a finishing time, but “rules of the road” apply and uniformed law enforcement is positioned at each intersection of consequence.  Start and finish will take place at the Keystone River Run Village. In addition to the Fondo style cycling event there will be a “Fun, Fast and Free” kid’s race through the village and a vintage Porsche and Audi car show courtesy of Prestige Imports of Denver.  A cash donation will be made for every rider to The Colorado High School Cycling League and Summit County Search and Rescue.

Red Rocks Century Bike Race, August 9, 2014, This year, riders can choose from four great rides to make your day as challenging as you want! Go big with the full 100 mile century, or go with one of the other three options; the 62 mile metric century, a 50 mile half-century or the 33 mile Challenge ride. All will give you great scenery and epic climbs. Final route maps will be posted soon!

37th Annual Pearl Pass Mountain Bike Tour, Sept. 7-8 – Crested Butte, This oldest mountain bike event in the world runs from Crested Butte to Aspen via Pearl Pass.  In 1976, the first group of 15 or 20 cyclists from the Butte rode one-speed town bikes over the 12,705-foot Pearl Pass to Aspen in response to a group of Aspenites riding their motorcycles over Pearl Pass and parking them in downtown Crested Butte.  The Crested Butte rowdies pulled up in downtown Aspen in front of the historic Hotel Jerome.  By the early 1980s, the expert ride had grown and become a weeklong event known as Fat Tire Bike Week.  Today, Fat Tire Bike Week is held in June and the Pearl Pass Mountain Bike Tour is in September to celebrate Crested Butte as one of the birthplaces of mountain biking.

Buffalo Bicycle Classic, September 8, The Buff Classic has five courses, one for every rider, with routes ranging from a 14-mile, family friendly cruise to the 110-mile Buff Epic, which ascends Boulder Canyon and includes 6,250 feet of elevation gain.

Ride Westcliffe , September 14, 2013, The Ride Westcliffe: High Peaks Century is the toughest century ride in Colorado! 100 miles and 10,000 feet of elevation gain.

In order to do this, the best way is to get off the main roads and go on a few dirt roads and passes.
