Beaver Creek events take place in the town of Avon and up on the mountain village of Beaver Creek resort. The mountain village of Beaver Creek is a step into luxury mountain living. Set up like a European village, Beaver Creek events vary from ski races like Birds of Prey to the annual Memorial Day Blues, Brews and BBQ festival.
It’s always exciting when Olympian athletes come to Colorado. The Birds of Prey is a world cup ski race featuring the best skiers from around the world competing in Super G., Downhill and Giant Slalom. It takes the first weekend of December, so it is dependent on snow conditions.
In the summer, Beaver Creek is home to the Beaver Creek Rodeo. Every Thursday from late June to early August, the Beaver Creek Rodeo features a full line up of classic rodeo events fun for the whole family. Beaver Creek Mountain isn’t the only venue hosting Beaver Creek events. The Vilar Performing Arts Center is a Colorado premier venue featuring big name musicians, bands, theatre productions, symphonies, orchestras and more.
Free concerts are also featured in Beaver Creek every summer. The Concerts by the Creek series take place at Creekside Park near the village. These free Beaver Creek events take place on Wednesdays from late June to early August. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and be ready to dance. The town of Avon is the gateway city to Beaver Creek resort. In Avon is Nottingham Park, home to art festivals, beer festivals, music festivals and free summer concerts.
In 1972, the Olympic Committee proposed Beaver Creek to the main host for the Winter Olympics. Colorado residents voted against the Olympics, but the plan for Beaver Creek resort continued forward and the resort opened in 1980. In 1989, 1999 and 2015, Beaver Creek hosted the World Alpine Ski Championships.
