14er Fest Sleeping Indian Hill Climb
Buena Vista Events take place in Chaffee County, home of the Arkansas River headwaters recreation area. The area is up against the Collegiate Peaks mountain range. Collegiate Peaks is a concentration of 14ers named Princeton, Yale and Harvard. When visitors to the aren’t rafting in the whitewater or soaking in the surrounding hot springs resorts, they’re enjoying one of the many Buena Vista events taking place at picturesque parks and venues throughout the area. Fall is an especially colorful time of year and one of the Buena Vista events that takes place during this time is the ATV historic color tour where each rider chooses their self-guided ride and goes at their own pace.
As part of the Arkansas River Headwaters, Buena Vista along with Salida, celebrate the whitewater pounding down the canyon during the FIBARK festival in June. Right in the middle of Buena Vista is Mc Phelemy Park. Home to several Buena Vista events most notable the Gold Rush Days in August. This festival is highlighted by historical reenactments, the Triple Crown Burro Race, vendors, live bands, gold Panning and more.
When you’re in Buena Vista, make sure to stop by the Buena Vista Chamber visitors center right in the middle of town. You’ll also want to take a stroll through downtown and visit the small town shops, art galleries, bars and restaurants. And while you’re doing all this, you’ll be surrounded by stunning views, whish is probably how Buena Vista (Beautiful View) got its name.
