Colorado Beer Festivals
Colorado and local brewers date back to 1873 when Coors started brewing in Golden, Colorado using fresh mountain water right out of the Clear Creek. Ever since then, Colorado beer festivals and events have been taking place throughout Colorado during all four seasons. Now days, porters, pilsners, stouts, wheats and more are brewed at over 200 breweries throughout the state. Several Colorado craft breweries enjoy fame. New Belgium Brewery, Oskar Blues, Odell, Left hand Brewing and Avery Brewing are ranked in the top 50 US Brewers. With all this beer and brewmasters, it’s only natural there’s a beer festival in communities and ski resorts throughout the state. These popular beer festivals attract brewers from across the nation and the tasters win as they get to sample the delicious beverage. But you don’t have to wait for a Colorado beer festival to sample local brews. You can bet you'll find local craft beers at most Colorado concerts, sport events, ski/snowboard resorts and Oktober fests.
Colorado Beer Festivals Attract Visitors From Around the World - Can You Say "beercation?"
The Colorado beercation isn’t quite as popular as the Colorado ski vacation but if beer is your thing, you can certainly satisfy you cravings and curiosities with an extended visit to a brewery, a brewery tour or a beer festival. Popular beer festivals in the state include The Great American Festival held every fall in Denver. This premier Colorado beer festival and competition sells out within hours of public tickets sales and attracts 60,000 attendees. At the GABF, these attendees are treated 7923 beers and 800 breweries. It’s come a long way since it started in 1982 when 24 breweries featured 47 beers and 800 attendees.
