35th Annual Crane Festival

Now in it's 35th year this 3 day festival celebrating Sandhill Cranes includes Keynote Speakers, a photography workshop and a longstanding craft and nature fair. Festival-goers can find treasures handcrafted by local artisans, from delicately-painted wood carvings of birds to handmade jewelry, quilts, and wildlife art. The New Mexico raptor rehabilitator Hawks Aloft brings its live hawks, owls, and falcons for folks wanting to experience up close these birds typically only seen from afar. This event is a collaborative effort between The Friends of the San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuges (slvrefuges.org), The Monte Vista Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Monte Vista.
