Join us for evening of stories through music on this Fresh Friday* concert. Mined from the gorgeous songs of the musical West Side Story, Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances reimagines Shakespeare’s tragic lovers Romeo and Juliet in gang-plagued 1950s New York, while John Adams thrilling and disturbing “Doctor Atomic Symphony” (adapted from his opera Doctor Atomic) which seeks to portray the ambition and agony of Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer as he unleashed the power of the atom at the Trinity test site in 1945.
